DATA MANAGEMENT

Data Virtualization

Nowadays, corporate data is stored in a wide variety of formats. In order to obtain a reliable basis for decision-making, a coherent consolidation of different data sources is essential. Data Virtualization enables this consolidation in a simple and efficient way.

Efficient work with heterogeneous data sources

Data virtualization enables the merging of and working with heterogeneous data sources. While ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) load data directly from the respective source systems for this purpose, data virtualization takes a different approach. Instead of explicitly extracting data, different sources are connected with an intermediate instance – in short: virtualized – and made accessible in this way. This makes it possible to work efficiently and easily with a wide variety of data sources using a uniform syntax.

Data virtualization offers companies the following added value:

Real-time access

Virtualization eliminates the need to load source data, which is usually time-consuming and prone to errors – higher data reliability is guaranteed.

Unification

Instead of having to access each data system individually, data virtualization enables simplified use - working with data becomes easier.

Cost reduction

Since data remains on the source systems and is only addressed in virtualized form, there is no need to purchase new intermediate storage infrastructure - there is no need to tie up capital in this respect.

Data Asset Management

Centralized access to multiple sources makes it much easier to design a data governance strategy - improving data security.
